Wash and fold is the least glamorous thing we do and the one our regulars use most. You leave a bag; you get back a stack. Everything is washed in your preferences — temperature, detergent, and whether you want fabric softener — and folded the same way each time so your drawers stay the way you set them up.
How it works
Bring your laundry in, or leave it for a scheduled pickup. Each order is washed separately from every other customer's — nothing is combined into a shared load. Loads are sorted by color and weight, washed, dried at a temperature appropriate to the fabric, folded, and bagged.
Tell us once about your preferences — cold wash, fragrance-free detergent, no softener on towels, hang-dry for a particular set of shirts — and we will keep them on file so you never have to repeat yourself.
What belongs here rather than in dry cleaning
Everyday cottons and knits: t-shirts, underwear, socks, gym clothes, jeans, sweatpants, bed linens, towels, and children's clothing. Anything you would happily put through your own machine, done properly and returned folded.
What does not belong here: tailored jackets, silk, wool suiting, structured dresses, and anything with a dry-clean-only label. Those go through dry cleaning, and we will pull them out and set them aside if they turn up in a wash-and-fold bag rather than ruin them.
For small apartments
Most buildings in Carnegie Hill either have no machines or have three of them for eighty apartments. Wash and fold by the pound is usually cheaper than the hours you would spend in a basement, and the bag comes back the same day or the next.

Is my laundry washed with other people's?
No. Every order is kept separate from start to finish.
How is wash and fold priced?
By the pound, with a minimum. Call (212) 289-9874 for the current rate — comforters, bedding, and heavily soiled loads are quoted separately because weight alone does not describe them.
Can you use my detergent or a fragrance-free one?
Yes. Tell us at drop-off, or bring your own and we will use it. Sensitivities are common and easy to accommodate.
When will it be ready?
Usually the same day for a morning drop-off, otherwise the next day. Ask at the counter for your specific order.
